Investigation shows that, the former transition Chairman in Ibiono Ibom Local Government area in Akwa Ibom State, and the immediate past Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Electoral Matters, Mr.Mfon Udeme was enmeshed in fraud.
Findings shows that, Mfon had allegedly duped the State government of revenue, when he rented out the 25th anniversary estate at Idoro road, in connivance with one Ezekiel, where he defrauded Akwa Ibomites millions of Naira in rent of the government estate.
Mfon Udeme we gathered, issued receipts in his chambers, called Prospect Chambers at 93 Udo Udoma street, after collecting the cash from people he rented the apartments in the estate to.
In a petition to the Commissioner of Police against Mfon Udeme, the petition stated that, Mfon had claimed to be acting on behalf of the State government, and had said, he was in charge, which provided an avenue for citizens of the state to fall for his fraudulent activities. Occupants of the Estate had demanded that Mfon refunds the money they paid to him, but he refused.
Why will a supposed lawyer, impersonate the State government and conspire to defraud people, while acting on false pretense? One of the persons who were duped queried.
Each of the occupants paid as much as N300 thousand Naira, depending on how your premises was.
Residents of the estate has been facing police intimidations to quit the premises, as they are tagged to be illegal occupants, despite paying millions of Naira to Mfon.
Mfon Udeme we gathered, was dragged to the Uyo Magistrate court, where the case is currently ongoing.
