Reports reaching our news desk says, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Elder Elijah Iyak has been accused of working seriously to change the list of delegates to favour his House of Reps Aspirant, Nsikak Ekong. The SSA has also been accused of name dropping the wife of the Governor, to curry favour for his preferred Aspirant, Nsikak Ekong.
We gathered that, three Aspirants were vying for the position under the Peoples Democratic Party, to represent Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, until recently, when the Governor appointed Sunny Ibuot as a Special Adviser, which left the contest to a two horse race, between Nsikak Ekong and Jerry Otu.
Stakeholders in the Party have threatened defection, if the delegate list is tempered with, saying, it may disunite the Party, and that the status quo be maintained. They further accused political leaders in the area, of always concentrating offices in ward 2 and Ward 7, leaving other 9 wards out. It was further said that, the former House of Reps Member, Patty Etete, was from ward 2.
Findings shows that, Jerry Utuk is from ward 7, which has produced a Former Senator, Former council Chairman, and a Former chapter Chairman of the Party. If my aspiration will bring problem between me and Governor Udom, I’m ready to step down. Nsikak Ekong was quoted as saying.
Reacting, the SSA on SDG, Elder Iyak, who spoke through his Media Manger, Idorenyin Umana, said the allegations were not true, as Iyak has nothing to do with the list.
