The claims from some quarters, of Governor Ayade of Cross River state being a digital governor is as factual as the hilarious phrase “a king without a kingdom”. Or how else can one explain the irony of a self-styled acclaimed digital governor, governing an analogue state?
A state with a very poor road network, where the only road leading to its capital is in total shambles, its streets are just as its name implies Cross River where her residents lives in complete fear, the once joyful sounds of rain that brings joy to the heart of children and succor to parents for the fact there will be availability of water which the government can not provide for her citizens, has lost that savor as bad and blocked drainage system within the metropolis have turned it’s fortune to disaster, flood have taken over the streets of Calabar, not leaving the governor’s office out of it as well. Rumor has it that on days with heavy down pour the governor is forced to stay off work as the governor‘s office becomes a pool, an insider hinted.
Calabar a city, unarguably once famous for its beauty has suddenly become a shadow of its self,as night life in the state has dwindle astronautically, streetlights are seldom powered, which has resulted to high rate of crime, kidnapping has become a very lucrative business under the watchful eyes of the acclaimed digital Governor of an analogue State, street urchins have like wise increased like never before, even though so much has been voted for security with very little or nothing to show for it. A digital state should have a good security system, painfully that can’t be said of Calabar and Cross River at large.
Unarguably, never has the state seen so much youth inclusion in governance as it has now, if only that has translated into anything meaningful, pundits from different quarters have equally quarrel the acclaimed digital Governor’s appointment, they say it is a harvest for cultists, and a way of empowering hoodlums who helped snatch power for their big politicians at the just concluded national elections. As the state experiences an avalanche of numerous kidnappings, intimidations, occultist and cultist activities have been allegedly linked to some appointees, the cases against Joseph Odok and Inyali Peter among notable others are still under investigations.
A so called digital governor Governing an analogue state with an abysmal level of education of all time getscme bemused and highly bewildered, a state where students can’t sit for their examinations repeatedly because of face-off between the government and the teachers union as a result of unsettled teachers welfare, the state tertiary institutions are so under funded that they cant perform, all these I just can not fathom. I dare to ask, can such a state as this boast of a digital governor?
Notwithstanding, Gov Ayade has great dreams at least I can see that in the caliber of projects he proposes, but until at least they are achieved I quarrel the rationale behind the title‘’Digital Governor’’. Remember, approval is not release, if you know you know.
This is neither a diatribe nor an avalanche targeted at any person or institution, and shouldn’t be considered as malicious rather should be seen as questioning the status quo. As the writer is a public affairs analyst, who remains apolitical and unbiased.

I enjoy reading your articles. I assume that they are written by journalists with training on writing grammatical sentences. I am however disturbed by the numerous instances where subject and predicate do not seem properly alligned. Part of a sentence like: “… Cross River where her residents lives in complete fear … ” is one such example.
