Trail Reporters
Despite accusing National Assembly members as bribe takers, Trail Reporters investigation shows that, under his watch as the then Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Jega was allegedly enmeshed in a poll of corrupt practices.
Sources say, Jega’s INEC in November 2010, awarded multimillion naira contract to a company, Anowat limited that was incorporated in September, 2010, and had also spent N5.4billion in 2011 to clean up the electronic electoral register that produced underage voters in 2015.
In 2012, Jega’s INEC spent N222million on hotel bills for Resident Electoral Commissioners
One of our reliable sources said, Jega may have a point about corruption in the National Assembly, but the INEC he led had issues, beyond his sanctimonious pontification.
Further findings shows that, a lot of irregularities on papers of how contracts were awarded under Jega’s INEC, stares us at the face.
The former INEC Chairman could not be available as at the time of this report.
