Illegal Bunkering: Police Launch Manhunt for Obot Aniema/ Imoh Edet

The Rivers State command of the Nigerian Police Force, has commenced search for the escaped suspects linked to illegal bunkering activities in the Ogbogoro community of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Grace Woyengikuro Iringe-Koko, stated that the duo of Obot Obot Aniema and Imoh Friday Edet, who fled the illegal bunkering site during police invasion, tops the list of wanted personnel of one Mr. Amadi Gift, the man in charge of oil bunkering activities in Ogbogoro community.

The police made this known in a press release made available to this news medium, Monday, 12th January, 2022.

They said the duo is alleged of being in position of over 200M Naira, paid by a client for the purchase of the finished illegal product, and other data required that will lead to the arrest of security operatives involved in this oil theft.

It could be recalled that the Rivers State government in its bid to stop the soot that has engulfed the entire state as a result of illegal refining activities in the area, placed Mr. Amadi Gift and 18 others wanted for perpetrating this act of sabotage.

The police stated that on the day the police invaded the illegal refining site for the arrest of Amadi and his crew, 2 personnel working for Amadi, said to be in position of a huge amount of money and important information that will lead to the arrest of the Oil Mafia’s and security operatives involved in the act fled the scene.
The Police also stated that on interrogating Amadi after his arrest, he claimed the 2 workers who fled were the ones handling all the transaction, they were in charge of buying the crude oil product, processing and sales.

According to the police, Amadi also claimed that the duo hails from Akwa Ibom and have been working for him for over 3 years now.

He also said that the money alleged to have been paid by one of the arrested clients, who purchases the petroleum product after refining are in the position of the duo.

The police in the release said that anyone who has useful information to their where about, will be highly rewarded.
