IMPEACHMENT OF HON IGBUYA AND A CAUTION TO GOV OKOWA AND IBORI

The Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) recently impeached their former speaker without violating any orders or sections of their house rules or neither did they breach the constitution they all took oath of office to protect.

It’s solely the prerogative of Delta State House of Assembly members to impeach or elect house leadership amongst themselves and such should be respected by other arms of government.

However, it’s quite pathetic and appalling for some rumor mongers to attribute the recent impeachment of the former embattled speaker as handwork of Gov Okowa, Hon Osanebi and Hon Diden because the recent impeachment of the embattled former speaker, Hon Igbuya was a collective decision of over 2/3 majority of members of DTHA as required by law.

Moreover, from grapevine, we are hearing that Chief Ibori James Onanefe has been appealing for the reversal of the impeachment and thus lead me to ask the following questions ;

1) With all due respect, during your eight years reign as governor of Delta State, Speakers of DTHA was impeached on several occasions and none did you appeal for his reversal, so why the keen interest on the former embattled speaker?

2) During your time as governor and in history of governance, never has an impeached speaker been reinstated, so why advocating for such now?

Moreso, from grapevine, we are hearing that His Excellency, Sen Dr Okowa has been mounting pressure and appealing to DTHA members to reinstate the impeached embattled speaker and thus lead me to ask ;

1) With all due respect, why will you not respect the independency of the legislative arm of government and stop your over bearing interference on the legislative arm?

2) Paradventure, God forbid that DTHA members succumb to your pressure and reverse the impeachment, hope you will agree that they as well reverse all the bills and budget(s) they have passed and as well all the appointments they ratified?

An agency doesn’t become an institution by its mere virtue of its establishment or creation but with such an agency discharging her duties efficiently, so you people should allow the legislative arm exercise her independency.
