…SAYS HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE FOR WORKERS ACROSS BOARD.

Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, has again been described as a consumate leader with uncommon passion for human capital development, and places top priority on the welfare and well-being of workers in the state.

Executive Assistant to the governor on communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe made the assertion in a swift reaction to the release of bilions of Naira as full and final settlement of local government workers salary backlog in the state.

He said the governor graciously and happily released a total sum of N5 billion Naira, being amount required to pay the backlog of local government workers from May 29, 2015 till date, noting that this singular kind gesture of Gov Okowa has engraved his name in gold as a reliable promise keeper.

Gov Okowa’s EA Communications further disclosed that there has been wild jubilation by LGA workers across the state since the news of the payment rocked the air waves, adding that the Chairman of ALGON in the State, Hon Constantine Ikpokpo immediately commended the state government and the Smart Governor for putting smile on the faces of LGA workers, yet again.

“When the righteous are in power, the people rejoice, which is why there has been endless celebration accross the state, in appreciation of the noble assistance by Okowa administration for he ling LGAs to clear the huge backlog of unpaid salaries, which is no fault of the state government.

“The delay was largely traced to APC national government induced economic recession, coupled with the drastic fall in price of crude oil at the international market; making it almost impossible for the local governments to meet their financial obligations to workers as well as other sundry expenses.

“Gov Okowa repeatedly promised to assist LGAs clear salary arears as soon as the state financial situation improves. It is obvious that government has also increased her earnings through Internally generated revenues (IGR)as well as improved federal allocation to states, which prompted the total payment of Local Councils salary backlog spanning over three years.

“We are pretty sure that APC propagandists shall henceforth re-direct their surplus energies towards productive ventures; because for three straight years, Delta APC and it’s waring leaders have always based their vexation and media contents solely on the backlog of LGAs salary arrears.

“Gov Okowa’s second tenure (2019-2023) shall by far more successful in terms of infrastructures and socioeconomic development across the state; more and more capital projects shall be executed in the three senatorial districts while workers welfare shall remain top priority of government.” Oghenesivbe assured.
