ONDO SPEAKER, JUMOKE AKINDELE RESIGNS TO MAKE WAY FOR GOVERNOR’S CANDIDATE

Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele has resigned as the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly along other principal officers this morning.

The resignation came on the heels of reconciliation and agreement between the two warring factions of the Assembly.

The letter of resignation of the principal officers dated Monday, 20th March, 2017 was officially received today (Monday) by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

The other factional leadership of the House is expected to do same to pave way for the election of new principal officers of the hallowed chamber, and also allow the new Governor, Rotimi Akeredolou to choose a speaker he can work with.

Hon. Malachi Coker, who lead the other group, presided over a plenary session of the House today, with members of his group in attendance.

Akindele’s reason was due to change in the geopolitical permutation in the State.
