AN OPEN LETTER TO DR. EMMANUEL EKUWEM: WHY YOU DON’T DESERVE TO BE SSG

Eneh John

Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better.” ~Harry Truman

It is a pleasure to write to you Dr. Ekuwem, as a stakeholder in the affairs of Eket Senatorial district.

My heart bleeds, each time I recollect, that a Scholar like you, ought to represent our senatorial district in the Senate in 2015. But not for the great teacher, who found an intellectually deficient person worthy to occupy the seat at the red chambers.

Since your appointment as the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, I have been troubled and deeply wounded that this appointment has personally affected me negatively.

Though it was greeted with thunderous hallelujah by the Oro people, to some of us, who believe in your leadership potentials, it was a deep cut.

You represent a brand which the youths are in need of. The Senate is where you belong Sir, not the position of the SSG.

Many have told me i will be distracting you from your responsibilities as the SSG, but they do not understand that in my over three decades of existence, never a time have i deeply loved a politician like I do to you.

I have rooted for leadership performance in Eket senatorial district, but it seems that the more I try, the more it becomes elusive by virtue of the occupier of that office.

Amongst the array of aspirants who have indicated interest to represent me in the Senate, I find you more worthy enough to speak for us.

This letter is to tell you, that as the days go by, think of the rural people who you would have touched through your performance as a Senator. Think of the commoners upon which you represent. Think of those your name brings hope of a better tomorrow for.

Consider our plea to run for senate in 2019, as the days thicken.
Understand that you have a foot soldier in me to walk the walk.

As a group of young persons, we are begging you to take this call to contest and win the Senate seat.

Just as Harry Truman had posited, In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Eket senatorial district has stood still for too long. It is time to move.

By all standard, you are a Technocrat. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better. Please seize this opportunity and answer the clarion call to the Senate.

We are in need of people, who will steer the ship to the sea shore. You inspire generations of youths.

It is an unblemished fact, that in 2019, we will elect who represents us, and not who will be imposed. Never again, shall mediocres represent the collective will of the people.

I have a history with the Oro people, so I am speaking as a grandson and an in-law to Oro.

Let us for once, have Senator we will always be proud of, years after leaving office.

Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, for whatever you do, know and understand that there are people who genuinely appreciate you, many you may not know.

A REPUTATION FOUNDED ON INTEGRITY, MUST BE NURTURED BY TRUTH.
