ST. PHILIPS CATHOLIC CHURCH KILLINGS:WE BLAME THE SECURITY AGENCIES -YOWICAN

Tom Garba

The National President of Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN),Engr David Daniel Kadzai outrightly blame the security agencies of the country for not being meeting up to their task to protect live and property especially of the Christian in the country.

Kadzai who issued a press statement to our correspondent said the  massacre of Christians by unknown gum men in Amakwa Ozubulu during the morning Mass was a deliberate attempt by the security men to discourage Christian all over the country from worshipping on Sundays services.

He also said that Necessary amenities which usually ought to be put in place to check these excesses have been sidelined by the state security apparatuses.

“Our position is firm, that this attack was made possible as a result of what we consider a “deliberate sidelining of responsibilities” by state security apparatuses (notably the police and the army) of ensuring the security of the Christian church, its pastors, members and the Christian religion in Nigeria.” He Said

According to him they understand that there are  much reasons being given by men of the army and the Police considering what has being happening in recent times whereby the security of Christians and Christian institutions have been neglected by state security apparatuses who are meant to secure these people and these institutions.

He warned that all the persistent killings must stop, starting with this case in Anambra state for the sake of peace and tranquility in order to ensure a sustainable development in the country and to advert reprisal attacks.

He said that it is pertinent to present a brief discourse on this matter. It is on record that we have seen incessant attacks on churches, pastors and even members, worst still incessant targetted kidnapping of top Christian Leaders.

“YOWICAN commiserates with all those who lost their loved ones and appeal to all Christians most especially Youths to remain CALM and law abiding as all necessary steps are taken to bring perpetrators and sponsors to Justice.

“This has become a norm for various criminals who hide under the guise of religion or any other nefarious groups to cause mayhem and try to instill fear on Christians and the Christian community in Nigeria.

“YOWICAN wishes to use the attack on St. Philip Church in Anambra state as a most vivid case for drawing public attention to this careless negligence of the security requirement  of the Christian community and to state clearly that if the state security apparatuses do not beef-up their game and stand up to this challenge, YOWICAN will have no choice than to take up this matter using a much strenuous approach to finding a solution to this problem.

“This is because the lives of our pastors and members are of paramount interest to us as well as the preservation of our churches and our religion which are a sacred, symbolic emblem of our Christian faith.

“We demand the arrest of perpetrators of these terrorist-style crimes within the next 48hrs.

“YOWICAN will continue to monitor the state of things regarding this matter, while interfacing with all our various chapter across the Country for further instructions.

‘We use this opportunity to appreciate the prompt response of the Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obi Obiano.”
