HERVE RENARD’S SALARIES AND NFF’S WILD GOOSE CHASE

Currently as Head Coach of France Women’s national team, Renard earns £345,000 annually which is approximately £28,000 or €33,000 monthly.

In Saudi Arabia he was earning £999, 961 or €1,171, 734 euros annually in salary as Head Coach of Saudi Arabia national team. That’s approximately £83,000 or €97,000 monthly.

In Morocco, he was earning between €1.8m and €2.4m annually or €150,000 and €200,000 per month as Head Coach of Atlas Lions of Morocco.

In Cote d’Ivoire he was earning €588,000 annually which is €49,000 monthly as Head Coach of Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.

In Zambia he earned €1.1m annually which is about €91,000 monthly as Head Coach of Chipolopolo.

NFF’S CHASE
The NFF has had to struggle with the payment of salaries of Super Eagles coaches whether indigenous or foreign coach over the years. The reason given for the appointment of Finidi George was that they cannot afford the salaries of a foreign coach.

The details of the contract of Finidi was not made public but reports suggest that he was offered fifteen million naira (N15m) which is approximately €9,229.

Looking at this figure, it baffles stakeholders how NFF plans to pay the foreign coach they are seeking to employ. There are speculations that Herve Renard is their target.

The above listed earnings are what the French man got in his previous and current appointment. The questions many are asking now are, Can the NFF pay Renard? Will he receive €9,229 which Finidi was to get monthly?

Put €9,229 side by side €30,000 (or £28,000) which Renard is earning presently as France Women’s national team Head Coach then, you will agree that NFF may be on a wild goose chase except they have sourced for funds from other avenues.

HIS CHOICE FOR THE JOB
On account of winning AFCON in 2012 and 2015 with Zambia and Cote d’Ivoire respectively, Herve Renard no doubt is good for the job. But the NFF should tell Nigerians if they want him just to win AFCON or for Loong term development.

Don’t ask me if Renard is a world class coach. But Yours Sincerely know that only world class coaches can map out programs for long term development. At this point in the history of Nigeria football quick fixes isn’t a solution.

The NFF should look beyond AFCON and World Cup ticket. Super Eagles have won AFCON and featured in six World Cup tournaments. So Renard or whoever is being projected should be told in clear terms that the job isn’t about AFCON and World Cup qualifiers or World Cup ticket.

It is a total overhaul of the system or sweeping aside the technical disabilities of Nigeria football for fresh breathe of life to be injected into it.
